What is Astrology?

 

 

 

 

Do the Planets really influence us? What is the misunderstanding about Astrology?

 

 

There are some observations from thousands of years about how the lunar cycle influences people’s psyche, behavior, health – reflected in many  repertory rubrics related to the Moon, used by homeopaths. The fact the tide is related to the Moon phase is something that we all know. People who are dealing with gardening know that various activities in the garden are recommended according to the Lunar Calendar.

 

 

Also, thanks to the ancient wisdom, we know that, for example, the nettle tea has a blood cleansing effect. But have you ever wondered why? What is common between the nettle and the blood?

 

Or did you know that Equisetum arvense ( common horsetail) has a good effect on bones? Why? How are they related to each other?

 

Or what makes a person good in mathematics and the other talented in arts, even if they are brothers, raised in the same family, under the same environmental influences?

 

Why are certain colors related to certain moods?

 

 

The modern Human being tries to explain everything scientifically and tries to control everything around. But still there are many questions,  which cannot be answered from the scientific perspective, as well as there are natural phenomena which cannot be controlled by us, humans.

 

But it does not mean that there are no other reasons behind. The problem is, that we can understand only those phenomena our mind knows. So we have to broaden our horizons, studying other disciplines, like Astrology.

 

Did you know that Astrology was part of the Curricula of Medical Universities in the Middle Age?

 

 

We, as humans, are part of the Universe. According to this, humans, as well as other creatures in the Universe, we are under the effect of the same Universal Laws and Archetypal energies. But we cannot observe the effect of these energies directly on us. These Archetypal energies are acting on each level and form of the existence, including the Planets, the observation of these can help us to understand the quality of the time, according to what we know from Hermes Trismegistus:

 

“This is true without lying, certain and most true.That which is below is like that which is above and that which is above is like that which is below to do the miracle of one only thing.” ( Tabula Smaragdina)

 

Paracelsus, the Swiss alchemist, physician, astrolog, teolog, physicist and filosopher (1493 – 1541) also formulated: „Human, like a microcosm, is identical with the macrocosm.” ( Similarity between Human and Nature)

Astrology is an esoteric science, which studies reality based on the principle of analogy, not on causality, as many people misunderstood about astrology. In this way the Planets do not cause anything to us, they just reflect the Archetypal influences, in a given moment, which are acting on them, as well as they are acting on us, as humans. They serve us just as a reference system which is observable from the Earth. The conclusions from these observations are valid on each level of the same Analogy Series, according to the Law of Analogy. So in this way Astrology studies the Quality of Time, because yes, the time has also quality.

 

 

As Carl Gustav Jung had written:

 

“We are born at a given moment, in a given place, and like vintage years of wine, we have the qualities of the year and of the season in which we are born.”
