BUILDING YOUR HOMEOPATHIC PRACTICE: Three things you must do this summer to boost profits
After a while I get a bit tired of hearing the same old refrain from my colleagues about the summer months. “It’s summer. It’s going to be so slow. Everyone is away. No one wants to come in for treatment.” You know why I get so tired of hearing it? Because in my world, it’s simply not true. Today I am going to share with you three simple, tried-tested-and-true ways to boost your profits this summer so you can reap the rewards all year long! I hate double negatives, but the truth is that you simply can’t afford NOT to implement them right away!
1. Reframe. Sorry, folks, but many of you talk like you know what affirmations are and how you believe in the power of thought but how many of you are actually walking your talk? One of my shamanic teachers used to say, “Are you walking your talk, or just blowing it out your a**?” (He was blunt, it’s true, but it’s a valid question!) So if you truly believe in the power of thought and positive affirmation, then reframe your thoughts on summer! “Summer months are busy for me. I have a steady clientele all year long.” “People love to come and see me in the summer, just as much as any other time of the year!” Changing your thought patterns is powerful…and free.
2. Make a few phone calls. Over the years, I have had several clients who would say things to me about their children, how they needed help with a skin issue or their learning disability or whatever. No doubt you have had similar experiences. Well, there is no better day than TODAY to call those parents or grandparents and say, “Hi! It’s Joe calling and I was just thinking about your son and his __________. Given that it is the summer, and school is out, it makes it a lot easier for us to book appointments to get rolling with treatment before school resumes in September. How would you like to book him in for his initial consult next week?” This is not sleazy sales, this is service! You are genuinely able to help, you have time, and you know that this is a perfect opportunity for the child to get the help he or she needs without the added pressure of school schedules. So make the calls and book them in!
3. Get off your butt. It’s too easy to tell yourself that it’s going to be “slow” this season and therefore adopt a laissez-faire attitude towards your business. Some day in September you wake from your reverie and recognize that you are no further ahead in your business than you were in May! You have effectively wasted an entire quarter of the year! Do you own a business or a hobby? If you are a business owner, then you work all year round and you get off your butt and make things happen in your world. You do not accept that summer is “slow.” You do not accept that “no one will come.” You take solid and decisive action to boost your profits. So you get off your butt, you take time to assess your finances, organize your files, prioritize your time, work the budget, clean off your desk, and make room for the new clients that are calling. You get out of the office, have meetings with solid referral partners, write articles, get proactive with your tweets, touch in with your clients, and send off a Happy Summer note to one and all. In short, you focus all of your efforts on making each moment at work count towards building the practice of your dreams.
Okay, that was more than three ideas but there you go! I am so jazzed about this summer that I just want to share that joy and energy with you…and to see you reframe, make some calls, and get off your butts to make your practice profitable, once and for all! You can do it! Now is your time.
